Acid42 is a one-man live PA, which started out as an on-the-job experiment. It began with creating short soundclips for use in web projects at work. And later mutated into creating personal tunes for personal consumption and for usage on the dancefloor.
Acid 42 is Lionel Valdellon: Writer, editor, musician, artist, web designer.
Tools used: Acid Pro, Sound Forge, Reason, Fruity Loops, Hammerhead, Rebirth
ACID42 started out as a drummer for a pop band in 1994, upgraded into a keyboardist for an acid jazz/80s cover band in 1995 and got fed up by 97, when he decided to finally create and play the electronic music he truly enjoyed. He started CLONE, then a trio of like-minded individuals who performed songs like a band, albeit one with keyboards and samplers instead of drums and guitars.
On the side, his ACID42 solo project actually started out as part of his day job. He put together sound clips for websites using Acid Pro. Which would lead to learning other software, and a never-ending educational process of learning about sound and music production.
These days, Acid42 comandeers his laptop and sampler, and plays out as often as possible in any available gig: school fairs, punk gatherings, cozy lounges, hazy bars. No gig is too small, no group of people unreachable with his wide array of music, which includes danceable house tracks, relaxing downtempo, even jump-up hardcore beats at 160 bpm.
"The point is to play as often as possible, and practice this thing called Live P.A. which is basically playing music that moves people-- to dance, to tears, to laugh."
