About the song
After I got married, I realized that my new wife's dogs slept in the bed with her since they were just puppies. I accepted this fact because I loved her, but it took some getting use to. My philosophy is instead of getting upset about something in life, try and find the humor in it.
Lyrics
(There is a verse added that is not in the recorded version of this song.

Two Dog Night

(CHORUS)
I got a two-dog night when I got married,
I got a two-dog night when I wed.
I didn’t know what craziness awaited me,
I got a two-dog night in my bed.

I went and found me a girl in a mid-western town,
We fell in love and soon were wed.
But she had two dogs that would not leave her side,
Mac and Goliath in my bed.

After our wedding we set up our home,
And we had a lot of space for us to live.
I thought my sweetie and me would have a room to ourselves,
But I had two dogs a-sleeping in our bed.

I’m not sorry I married that mid-western gal,
She’s the sweetest lady that I’d met.
So I’ll live out my life with her always by my side,
but with two dogs a-sleeping in our bed.
