About the song
I wrote this song as a dedication to another minister who started out small, and now has a huge ministry feeding and clothing the poor, and sharing with them the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Lyrics
I’m No Chicken Anymore

I’m no chicken anymore,
I was destined to soar.
I have flown the coop to fly where eagles do,
Oh I’m no chicken anymore.

There was a chick who did not look like other chickens do,
He knew his destiny was not to live in that chicken coop.
Other chickens said that he had plum lost his mind,
Because he said I’m meant to soar above the clouds so high.

Who do you think you are to ever say you’ll fly so high,
A chicken’s not to think that way it would our laws defy.
But you notice I don’t look like you I know there’s something more,
I know that I don’t come from here these wings are meant to soar.

I started to attempt a great take-off falling flat on my face,
Other chickens ridiculed and scorned at my disgrace.
But as I kept on trying to fly to reach the clouds above,
Then one day I took to flight and showed those chickens up.

I found I was an eagle after all I was living below my lot,
I had a destiny so great that I had almost lost.
As I learned to fly above the clouds and storms that brew,
I never again desired to go back to that chicken coop.
