About the song
Like most of my angry songs, this one is directed at organized religion. This song is another example of me not trying to write an angry song, it just came out that way. The first few lines wouldn't sound angry outside the context of the rest of the song, but a few lines later I found myself composing a debunking of ancient wisdom, and they fit perfectly into it.
Lyrics
You can lead a horse to water
But you can't teach him to Mambo
If you took him out for chocolate shakes
He wouldn't give you no trouble
If you give a man a fish he might be
Back for more tomorrow
But if you didn't have none left
There's still your tractor he could borrow

They've spent 2,000 years working out those lines
So they can hook you in and sink your life
They would promise the world just to pocket your dime
Cause if you've got the money than they've got the time

If you beat a dead horse too long
It just might spring back to life
And then he might come barreling at you
And take you for a ride
And you can save your soul
Just by paying your tolls
But you'll still drive right past
All the ones with the real woes

They've spent 2,000 years working out those lines
So they can hook you in and sink your life
They would promise the world just to pocket your dime
Cause if you've got the money than they've got the time
