About the song
This song is sort of an audio adaptation of the Popeye cartoon entitled "We Aim to Please", wherein Popeye and Olive Oyl start a restaurant which serves several items including 10 cent hamburgers. They open up and their first customer is J. Wellington Wimpy, who boasts to his pal Bluto "Watch, I can get a hamburger without the necessary currency." (I may be paraphrasing that). He walks in and makes them this offer: "I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.". This seems like a reasonable proposition to Popeye, so the deal is struck, and Wimpy walks out of the joint with a Hamburger and a pickle. Bluto boasts that he can do the same, walks in, eats eight ham sandwiches at 10 cents a piece, then refuses to pay and makes the mistake of assaulting Popeye. Popeye turns once again to his trusty Spinach can, and beats the living sh*** out of Bluto.
This is a song from my first wave of music (all from several years ago) and when I wrote it I played a guitar with just four strings (heavy gauge). I wrote it early in the morning, went to sleep, forgot most of the melody and riffs, then I rewrote those parts and later added the solo as I hadn't yet become a lead player. I was probably staring at my Wimpy action figure when I got the idea. I'd like to think that the guitar solo in this song represents the part of the cartoon where Bluto is getting the living sh*** beaten out of him.

Lyrics
Popeye's opening a shop gonna make much money gonna sell those ten cent hamburgers
Olive's working on the grill gonna cook the food gonna make those ten cent hamburgers
Popeye's cleaning up the floor gonna make it clean so the people can get ten cent hamburgers
People coming through the door getting ready with their dimes so they can get the ten cent hamburgers
Wimpy coming through the door ain't got no money just a plan for ten cent hamburgers
"Gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today" is what he say for ten cent hamburgers
Do me a favor right now cause I'm down on my luck got a big paycheck coming Tuesday
Don't need anything else just a burger and a pickle and I'll pay you back Remember Tuesday
