About the song
This song lyrically is a part of a whole circle songs I wrote around a conceptual story background. It's basically a fantasy-type story quite typical for Melodic Metal, however in my lyrics I always try to include a darker edge than just the usual "All war is glory" (since it definitely isn't!) and emphasize the devastating and terrifying aspects of war, all armed disputes and generally fights in life that take a high toll. This song is about the "calm before the storm" basically, since it describes the hours before a big battle between the armies of an oppressing empire and a few rebels; and the "Thunder of Doom" stands for the pounding of the hooves as the riders are drawing nigh. Other songs of ours originating from that background story are "The Ride", "The Warrior's Lament", "An Oath We Swore"; some of which we will hopefully record soon and provide for you to download here!

This song also marks Eleftheria's first studio work on a song of our own (we were in the studio once before on a cover song, a sample of which can be heard on our website), so it was quite an experience, to record our own music for the first time... Of course there are a couple of flaws on the record, mostly since we were rather pressed on time (especially on the vocals), but nonetheless I think the tune turned out quite nicely, and we hope you like it!
Lyrics
Whenever hatred reigns triumph within a man’s soul
Over love, faith and truth;
Whenever the burden of pain and grief drives a man
To exert the same pain and grief on another man’s heart
And whenever all belief in any good is lost
Then the drums roll a thunder of doom
Announce the arrival of one black master of fate
And this master is called war.

Verse 1.:
Through the fields of fire
Ride those sworn to blood
For vengeance their desire
Of destruction be their flood

Led by those who wandered
Through darkness and through hell
Led by those who lingered
In dreams of those who fell

In the night remember
The vows upon the wind
The last one dying ember
On this night we sinned

Ride the darkness, mourning
On wings of storm arrive
And face the dreadful morning
Where blood and hatred thrive

Pre-Chorus:
Signs in the air
Signs on the wind
Cries of despair
For the slain kin

Chorus 1:
The Thunder of Doom hails to the end of all the times
With screams of torture and pain
And love is deceived by hatred divine
And blood be freedom’s stain.

The Thunder of Doom sheds the blood of your heart
Outward and inwards the same
And sadness enshrouds all that which should have been
Honor, Glory, Fame

Verse 2.:
With all vows now broken
And a doomed soul's saddened howl
Of your hatred leave a token
As through the night you prowl

Shatter dreams and ravage lives
Be victims to the flame
Break the promise to love and life
And see them all aflame

Of lost a love you all will sing
And yearn for vengeance reaped
But only pain the morn' shall bring
And unheard a plea

Harken cries of angels lost,
Fallen and decayed
See the wound in thy father’s eyes
Impaled and betrayed

Pre-Chrous:
Signs in the dust
Signs of the dawn
"Vengeance!" they cry
Their eternal yawn

Chorus 2:
The Thunder of Doom hails to the end of all the times
With screams of torture and pain
And love is deceived by hatred divine
And blood be freedom’s stain.

The Thunder of Doom sheds the blood of your heart
Outward and inwards the same
And sadness enshrouds all that which should have been
Honor and Glory and Fame

Bridge:
Ride! Ride!
Ride through the thunder,
Ride through the rain
Onwards to slaughter
Onwards to pain!

Kill! Kill!
Kill all that's me
Kill all that's true
Kill all of them
And then kill you!

Solo

Verse 3: So when the doomed thunder's roars
And the hellish lightnig's ray
Are heard and seen on distant shores
Be sure to hide and pray

And once you tell them of this tale
Be sure to tell it true
For if you don't the thunder'll hail
And roll all over you

Repeat Chorus
