A couple of years ago, Cindy and I went to a Bailey Smith Conference in St. Louis. He was preaching on lukewarm Christian living. At one point of his sermon, he made the statement, “If our God is a consuming fire, how can we remain lukewarm?” The statement stuck with me, and a few months later we found ourselves in a Bed and Breakfast in Waxahachie, TX writing the words and music to “Consume me”. Cindy sang the song that evening at the revival we were involved in. It is our prayer that God would consume us, so that we can help ignite those whom we come in contact with.
