About the song
Lyricist Constance Howe and I decided to get together to write a song for a Christmas contest. The contest turned out to be a hoax, but we both enjoyed working together in writing this song.
Lyrics
Christmas, my favorite time of year.
Full of laughter and full of cheer.
Folks all happy to greet the day
When Christmas is on its way.
Bells and holly and mistletoe.
Sleighs with reindeer set in the snow.
Lighted windows and rooftops too
All bring Christmas to you.
Schoolkids will put on their holiday shows
They sing or they play in the band.
Little tots pulling on poor Santa?s nose
And sometimes they cry ?cause they don?t understand.
Soon they?ll love it like most folks do.
Christmas joy will come bubbling through
See them smile at the fat man's call
"Merry Christmas to all."
(2nd Verse)
Turkey dinners and wistful sighs
No more room for the cherry pies
Family gathered around the tree
That's the Christmas for me.
Folks collecting some Christmas toys
To make sure good little girls and boys,
On Christmas morning with eager eyes,
Will find a happy surprise
Post Office sorting a mountain of mail
To Santa up in the North Pole
Kids know that even through rain,
sleet or hail,
Their letters will get to that
Jolly Old Soul.
Voices lifting around the world
Happy tunes from each boy and girl.
So I sing as so many do
A ?Merry Christmas to You.?
A Merry Christmas to You
Full of laughter and full of cheer.
Folks all happy to greet the day
When Christmas is on its way.
Bells and holly and mistletoe.
Sleighs with reindeer set in the snow.
Lighted windows and rooftops too
All bring Christmas to you.
Schoolkids will put on their holiday shows
They sing or they play in the band.
Little tots pulling on poor Santa?s nose
And sometimes they cry ?cause they don?t understand.
Soon they?ll love it like most folks do.
Christmas joy will come bubbling through
See them smile at the fat man's call
