Timothy Leary was a very human person and completely misunderstood by both the hippies and the conservatives who jailed him.
Like a lot of good writers, musicians, statesmen andinsightful thinkers, he lived a life of extremes that sometimes contradicted his own ieals. I think that understading who he was and what he had to say is important to westerners because of how the reaction aginst him has shaped the world he live in.
