About the song
I wrote this for a "surprise wedding" that was thrown for my sister-in-law's 25th anniversary.
Lyrics
I will rise now
And go about the city
I will go about the streets and the squares
I will seek the one, seek the one my soul loves
I have sought for her but I have found her not
Who is this that looks forth like the sunrise
Fair as the moon, bright as the sun
Your eyes are doves behind your veil
My beloved has gone down to the garden
To the beds of spices in the fields
To pasture the flock in the gardens
And to gather all the lilies of the fields
I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine
We pasture our flock among the lilies.
I went down, down to the orchards
To look at the blossoms of the valley
To see whether the buds were on the vines
And whether the pomegranates were in bloom
Who is this that looks forth like the sunrise
Fair as the moon, bright as the sun
Your eyes are doves, doves behind your veil
My beloved has gone down to the garden
To the beds of spices in the fields
To pasture the flock in the gardens
And to gather all the lilies of the fields
I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine
We pasture our flock among the lilies.
The sentinels found me in the city
And I asked them, "Have you seen the one I love?"
But scarcely had I passed them
When I found her, I found the one I love
Who is this that looks forth like the sunrise
Fair as the moon, bright as the sun
Your eyes are doves, doves behind your veil
My beloved has gone down to the garden
To the beds of spices in the fields
To pasture the flock in the gardens
And to gather all the lilies of the fields
I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine
We pasture our flock among the lilies.
