I think I’m suspicious….. and certainly can’t prove any of this,
but maybe man shouldn’t have gotten so handy with his wits.
Survival of the pack rules the common laws of nature,
but we thought that out, without doubt and threw it out cause we’re so mature.

So if we can eat it, bleed it, pave it or burn it all up or …down,
then we damn well should, cause at the time, we think, it ain’t no holy ground.
And speaking of Holy ……as many people do
to excuse the self serving things we accrue, quite the opposite of the fluff we spew.
We thought up this magic to explain our place,
and think of course ….we’re the chosen few…. to wear god’s face.

But being so smart might not be the best laid plan of solution,
Many eyes watched, still watch, will watch through our last evolution.

Without human thought of self,…. no greed,
no quest for wealth ….nor flame of jealousy ,
no time spent in evil plots
or wondering what your neighbor’s got.
No arrogance, assumptions or bigots of race,
no fleecing, no flaming, no death for disgrace.
No missed aspirations, goals or false dreams,
no mass dependence on massive machines.
No guilt, no shame, no pointless futile games,
no boredom, no walmart, not even proper names.

Animals don’t think of such stuff …….so that makes us better?
They at least get out of the rain…while we humans think…. to out-smart the weather.

So perhaps being so wise beyond all the others,
is the real reason we will continue on killing off all our brothers
And it just might be the best prediction of our final fate,
will be to go on and on thinking…… until its just too damn late.
Till one day some new mob will find us and ironically ask,
”What killed off all these primitive beasts from the far distant past?”

And if thinking is then…. what thinking is now,
with hypothesis hummin’ with exquisite know how,
Great thinkers, like them, like us…still won’t think it…. in eons of wonder
We were killed by our brains … thinking we’d tame lighting and orchestrate thunder.

Now don’t let this viewpoint scar your thinking or freeze up your intellect,
you’d think I was comparing us to animals from giraffe to insect,
But of course its academic, we’re too smart to fall for all of this,
But if this thinkin ain’t stinkin… we may mistake the obvious for the oblivious.

But one point with nature and beasts…that we do have in common,
Just like dumb dino…..we won’t see it comin.
