About the song
This is another one that came from watching people in the crowd at a bar (where a lot of my better stories come from). This girl was sitting at the bar, just crying in her beer and wanting to be left alone, when this cowboy moved in for the kill. I bet he worked on that girl for two hours and tried every line in the book before he started talking about the way women had done him wrong all his life. Within a half hour, they left together.
Lyrics
I saw you sitting here all alone
Can I join you; can I buy you a drink?
There's a dark cloud hanging all over you
Could you use a little company?
You're wearing a look that I know too well
And drowning memories one shot at a time
Yeah, we've both been down that rough ol' road
On the wrong end of the goodbyes
---Chorus---
I've been stood up and knocked down
Walked on and pushed around
Had my heart bro-ken right in two
I've been lied to; I've been used
At times down right abused
Lord, I swear for a shot at love
There's nothing a heart won't do
Verse 2:
So what's the story you've got to tell?
Better yet, I think I'll just take a guess
The man who swore to love you forever
Found a new girl and a new address?
I know it's a bi*** and no comfort at all
Saying that you're not the only one
And I know it don't feel like it right now
But you'll be back before too long (cause me)
(Repeat Chorus)
Verse 3:
At least I managed to make you smile
Another's pain is always good for the soul
Just listen to a few of my tales awhile
And you'll find out how bad it can go
Yeah, you show me yours and I'll show you mine
I've got scars you just wouldn't believe
You may not forget ol' what's-his-name
But misery loves company
(Repeat Chorus)
Can I join you; can I buy you a drink?
There's a dark cloud hanging all over you
Could you use a little company?
You're wearing a look that I know too well
