My name is Kenneth Edward Keyn. I am simply a musician. I strive to understand the deeper things that music has to offer. I am a composer of deep, rich, and expressive music. I am classically trained, but I explore a plethora of genres and styles. I specialize in orchestral, choral, and small ensemble work.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. I am the primary co-composer on the iPhone game Trenches. I am a long standing member of OverClocked ReMix, where I am featured on multiple album releases and individual arrangements.
All my life, I’ve been a musician. It has been the air I breathe, the food I eat, the water I drink. Music is where my heart, my soul, and my spirit live. Without music, I am nothing but a shell.
I began composing in my Junior year of high school at Arts and Communication Magnet Academy, where I wrote pieces of music for the artistic element of class projects. Through the course of my college studies, I became more proficient in composition and was able to tackle and complete larger projects. In December 2004, I wrote the first two pieces ("Oboe Sonatina No.1" and an arrangement of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel") that would solidify my resolve to become a composer.
I was born in Bergen, Norway. I grew up in Redlands, California and Beaverton, Oregon. I now reside in Portland, Oregon. I come from a family of very talented musicians - such as my brother, Troy Keyn - who inspire me and provide me with a strong background of music.
While in college, I was a Music major with an emphasis in music theory and composition. I saw a lot of performance time, both as a vocal soloist and as part of the Concert Choir and Warner Chorale (the smaller, more advanced ensemble) at . My favorite venue to sing at, so far, has been the in downtown Portland. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much performance time lately.
