A song written for a dear friend of mine who lost his physical life in a car accident a few years ago. He's now in the presence of our Heavenly Father and one day I'll see him again.

About the song
One of my best friends was a man named Kevin Williams. He played the piano in our orchestra at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA and I played the drums right next to him for a few years. His voice and piano skills were simply amazing. Tears would well up in my eyes as I listened to him perform solos at church. He was abruptly taken away from us in 1999 in a horrible car accident leaving behind two children, a loving wife, and countless friends. I'll never forget the grief I felt that morning. It's a selfish grieving because there's no sense in anguishing over a person passing through the gates of heaven and being in the presence of our God. But even so, it was still hard for me to handle it as a mortal human being who missed my friend. Well, I wrote this song on the guitar shortly after his passing and I was understandably very emotional, so I wasn't exactly concerned about making this a perfectly structured song. As you listen to it, you'll notice I go from talking to you (the audience)to then talking to Kevin. I guess I was trying to explain to you how amazing this friend was and the more I do that the more I want to talk with him again. It's a simple song, but it has monumental meaning to me. I guess it was the only way I knew to express my feelings for him at the time. I will always miss him, but it's just a matter of time before I'll be able to hang out with him again. Hopefully, God will let us lead praise and worship together as we've done so many times.

--------------------------------------

I knew this man, he was a friend of mine
He loved his kids and adored his wife
He was everything I'd hoped I'd be
As a man of God, he showered love on me

Kevin, I'm so glad we had that walk through the woods
When we talked of all our dreams
Kevin, I can't wait 'til we can sing in harmony
As we did so many times
On the day that we see each other
I'm gonna' hug you so tight my brother
Kevin, you mean the world to me
You'll always mean the world to me

His song was as soothing as an ocean breeze
It helped my troubled soul find hope and peace
He worshipped God in spirit and truth
How I wish I had another day with you

Kevin, I'm so glad I had the chance to be your friend
Oh, you blessed my life so much
Kevin, I can't wait 'til we can joke and laugh again
As we did so many times
On the day that we see each other
I'm gonna' hug you so tight my brother
Kevin, you mean the world to me
You'll always mean the world to me

On the day that we see each other
I'm gonna' hug you so tight my brother
Kevin, you always meant the world to me!
The world to me!
Kevin you mean . . .
Kevin you mean . . .
You'll always mean the world to me
