Grace (a before and after montage)

About the song
I recently ran across the first recording I ever tried to make on my computer. It was May 21, 2004 and I wanted to record a song that I had written after a very serious conversation with the Lord one night. I plugged a cheap Karaoke mic into my computer and gave it a go. The result was, well... less than impressive. I still wanted to record, so after several months of research, experimentation, and hair pulling my sister Cindy and I finally put together a decent home studio. This track begins with a 40 second excerpt from that first meager recording attempt and then fades to the result of our efforts to do something better. The song still ministers to me today the same as the night I had that talk with Jesus. I hope that it will be a blessing to others as well.

Verse 1 (me)
Lord, I’ve failed again… I gave in to that same old sin.
Sometimes it gets the best of me… How I want to be free…
I want to be free… I want to be free…
Verse 2 (The Lord)
My son, I hear your prayer. Of this thing, I am not unaware.
The price that I paid for you,… it will cover this too.
You see,...
My grace is sufficient for you. Every morning, my mercies are new.
And there’s just one more thing that I want you to know…
My son,… I still love you.
Verse 3 (me again)
Lord, I don’t know what to say. Your love takes my breath away.
Your grace is sufficient for me… while I wait to be free…
I wait to be free… I wait to be free…
Chorus (The Lord)
My grace is sufficient for you. Every morning, my mercies are new.
And there’s just one more thing that I want you to know…
My son,… I still love you.
Verse 4 (The Lord)
So, My son, don’t be afraid… and don’t be discouraged today.
Remember the battle is mine… and you will see victory in time.
Until then,...
My grace is sufficient for you. Every morning, my mercies are new.
And there’s just one more thing that I want you to know…
My son,… I still love you.
Chorus (The Lord)
My grace is sufficient for you. Every morning, my mercies are new.
And there’s just one more thing that I want you to know…
My son,… I still love you.
I said,… My son,… I still love you.
You are… My son… and I love you.
