About the song
I just love 1960s music--so I guess I just had to write a song about it.
Lyrics
FROM THE 1960s TO TODAY
by Michael Borkson
CHORUS:
it’s a long long way, from the 1960s to today/
we’ve lost a little here and there, but gained so much along the way/
it’s a long long way , from the 1960s to today/
the music kept us strong, and had so much to say.
1. remember back in ‘64, the Beatles took the stage/
singing for the world, rock n roll had come of age/
going down to Strawberry Fields and to Penny Lane/
a new way of looking at the world, at last had came.
CHORUS:
2. hippies and flower power, took us up in ’67 /
with peace and love and groovy ways---i’d swear we were in heaven/
the Jefferson Airplane & the Byrds, the Troggs and the Moody Blues/
with so much to say, how could the music lose?
CHORUS:
3. 1969, brought us to the Woodstock Nation/
3 days of peace and music, it was pure joy and elation/
Richie Havens,C S N & Y,and JImi Hendrix, too/
even through the pouring rain, the sun came shining through.
CHORUS:
4. so, keep the music with you, keep the music strong/
cause who knows if again, such a time will come along/
the 1960s lifted us, to a higher plane/
the music and the times, will always live in fame.
CHORUS:
