About Seven years into marriage my wife decided to fight her alcoholism. I was so excited the day she asked for help, but was clueless as to what lay in store. For almost five years we fought and alcohol fought back. On our tenth anniversary we were separated and it looked as if the fight was over. However we turned it over to God and He took care of business. I was dairy farming for a living at the time and would write songs to the beat of the milking machine. Some people thought this was nuts, but you try listening to the same beat for six hours a day and not get it stuck in your head. As for Blame it on the Bottle I had written a huge stack of lyrics. I still have them and it's an interesting look back at what I was dealing with emotionally. One day while running the silo the tune and words came together and I rushed back home to write them down before I could forget. As for me and my wife, we got back together one year later and have now been married over 15 years. She has been a real inspiration in my song writing, and while seperated I also wrote "I'm gonna fall in love with you again" as a sequel to "Blame it on the Bottle" featured as the last song on the album. It's my desire that others can find hope through our story and not let something like alcohol destroy their lives.
