About the song
Emotional at Airports is dedicated to my late father, who spent most of his working life based at Heathrow. It was one of the first songs I ever wrote, back in the late 1980s, and I was inspired to update it by the death of Concorde, which used to take off from just outside his office.

This song enjoyed a long spell on the playlist at Radio Six International.

The cover picture is one of many splendid images at Thamesweb's Concorde Page, which also sells videos of the airliner's finest and final moments.

Paris, New York, London, Rome
Tokyo, Moscow, Glasgow, home

I get emotional at airports
Hope against hope you might be there
But ever since you boarded that plane
I knew I'd never see you again

Take a trip, fly out to wherever,
Leave behind all the troubles at home
Jetting off for business or pleasure
You always knew you were bound to roam

Paris, New York, London, Rome
Tokyo, Moscow, Glasgow, home

I get emotional at airports
Hope against hope you might be there
But ever since you boarded that plane
I knew I'd never see you again

I died inside the day you were sent your
ticket to ride, a one-way haul
You disappeared, the last great adventure
Into the sunset, after the call

Paris, New York, London, Rome
Tokyo, Moscow, Glasgow, home

cheerio, addio - let's go home
