THE BIG IRON c2003
By Shane O'Brien

Michael Del Rico, Local 433
We remember you brother,we remember you, Well. Real well
Union Ironworker, Los Angeles California
Thirty feet in the hole, Ended his working life and his family.

You get up every mornin and every night, yeah
You get out on the big iron yeah.
You get up every mornin and every night now
Out on the big iron now.

What a, what a high it is yeah
What a rush that it is baby. Out on the big iron.
You get high, you get high baby
every mornin day and night now, on the big Iron yeah.

On the big iron babe
You got your union brotherhood callin' you babe.
What a camaraderie, what a friendship that it is babe.
Yeah, on the big iron now, humY
ou got your friendships, its a camaraderie now.
You'd give your left arm babe
To see your family and your life stay out of the hole.

You get high, high, high babe
Day in year after year after year after year.
You get high now, just a rush flyin' in the air.
And you'd give your left arm now, you'd give your left arm now
You'd give your left arm now.
Just to simply see his family and his life stay in tow
Ah, there ain't no big hole'n now, ain't no big hole'n now.
You make first man, I got first, it do'nt really matter,
Were all one you know.

Ain't that the big iron now, ain't that the big iron man.
Like no other now, now.
You say your brothers is your brothers now
And say your prayers now, for the men fallen by the way.

And at the end of a grueling day now
you meet your brothers on the ground for a beer.
And at the end of a grueling day now
You meet your friends, your brothers on the ground for a beer yeah.
And talk about each other yeah, and brag about the day.
And talk about each other now
And how you swang around, round, round,
How you had a round today.
And your wonderin now, and your wonderin now
What tomorrow brings, tomorrow brings now.
Are you brave as you were yesterday, on the big iron now
On the big iron now.
On the big iron babe.
On the big iron babe.
