About the song
ABOUT THE ORIGINAL VERSION.
The original idea for the song came out of a letter to the Daily Record one Saturday in 1990. It was one of those annoying requests from some old duffer wanting something. Usually they just want a ball of a particular type of blue wool to finish their niece's cardigan or something. On this occasion however, they were looking for a tape of the song "Loch Maree", sadly the band were in recording at Devilla Studios in Prestwick and the upshot for J Murray of Wishaw was the arrival in the post of a tape of a song called "Loch Maree" the following Monday. We had really wanted to help this person, but we'd never heard of the song they were asking for, so we made one up on the spot. Its rather good, I think you'll agree. Oh yeah and we pretended to be Kenneth Mackellar on the tape too...
ABOUT THE NEW VERSION
We have replaced the original crap quick demo with a full production version, recorded and mixed by Captain W and mastered by General S in 1998. Unusually slick, it is rather strange and beautiful. A wee gem from the vaults. Cheers guys.

Lyrics
When winter winds come roaring round
I know its time to wander down to Bonnie Loch Maree
I love to bathe in Loch Maree with water swirling round my legs oh Bonnie Loch Maree
When I was young I left the town and went to live somewhere else but nowhere had quite the appeal of that first place I lived in within the vicinity of Loch Maree
Workers of the world unite the means of production is close at hand its there on the sand by the rocky shingle beach of Loch Maree
It was a lover and his lass with a hey and a ho and a rondeley la they drowned on the shores of Loch Maree with a hey and a ho and a nonnie nonnie no
Oh Loch Maree Loch Maree water hills and scenery Oh Loch Maree Loch Maree its the middle of January
The ghost can be seen if you've got a wet suit of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his electric Fleur De Lys beneath the powerboat's spray and the windsurfer's Spandex neath the waves by the shores of Loch Maree
Oh you know what I mean because he hasn't been seen since he wandered up high in the hills
He got lost one day on the West Highland Way and I think that he's up there still
Oh Loch Maree Loch Maree water hills and scenery
Oh Loch Maree Loch Maree its the middle of January
I know its time to wander down to Bonnie Loch Maree
I love to bathe in Loch Maree with water swirling round my legs oh Bonnie Loch Maree
