About the song
I was motivated by the idea of Domestic Violence and what music and art could say or possibly do about that. Some musical thoughts were kicking around in me and 1 line ("it doesn't matter what the reason might be") so I slept on it and when I awoke the next morning I just starting writing it all down - even before coffee. I guess you could say I dreamed it, and the emotional response in me was so powerfull I kept developing the arrangment but the lyrics are virtually uneditted from the way they came out that morning.
I had played it live at a few open mics and the response was good but, I got the feeling that many people were taken aback or even unsure about how they should react to it. Recording it was the most amazing studio experience ever as I hadn't got to play all the instruments like this before. My good friend Tim Kelliher (tjkstix@hotmail.com)came in and laid down the drums, hearing it all come together was so incredible. What a gift!
The feeling I got that day was so profound - everything seemed to fall into place, the kind of day you live your whole life for. The song itself seems so sad many people either cry or are completely unmoved by it, but I hope that people see the positive healing side at the end, that there is "another way" and life goes on...

Lyrics
Cry Your Heart Out
Face the fear every morning,
Live in fear every night.
Pain can come without warning,
You don’t dare put up a fight.
It doesn’t matter what the reason might be,
You swore you’d never let it happen again.
How can you know what your choices might be,
When all you know is where you’ve been?
Ooh, ooh, you pour your heart out
In forgiveness every day,
You cry your heart out to find another way.
Can’t remember when it started,
Hard to imagine it will end
A shred of faith to keep on going,
In the meantime just pretend
It doesn’t matter what the reason might be,
You swear you won’t go through it again.
No one can know what is happening to you,
Try to hold the flow of agony in.
You cry your heart out, you cry your heart out.
You pour your heart out in forgiveness every day,
You cry your heart out to find another way.
Catch a ray of hope this morning,
Give your self a chance to smile.
Show a cheek with tears adorning,
Let someone cry with you awhile.
You don’t have to understand it at all,
Promise yourself it never happens again.
How can you know what your future might be,
When all you know is what you’ve seen.
You cry your heart out, You cry your heart out,
You pour your heart out in forgiveness every day,
Your cry your heart out to find another way.
Face the fear every morning,
Live in fear every night.
Pain can come without warning,
You don’t dare put up a fight.
It doesn’t matter what the reason might be,
You swore you’d never let it happen again.
How can you know what your choices might be,
When all you know is where you’ve been?
Ooh, ooh, you pour your heart out
In forgiveness every day,
You cry your heart out to find another way.
Can’t remember when it started,
Hard to imagine it will end
A shred of faith to keep on going,
In the meantime just pretend
It doesn’t matter what the reason might be,
You swear you won’t go through it again.
No one can know what is happening to you,

You cry your heart out, you cry your heart out.

You cry your heart out, You cry your heart out,
You pour your heart out in forgiveness every day,
Your cry your heart out to find another way.
