AMDG(Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam)in Latin means "To the Greater Glory of God"

As a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, the Jesuits instilled certain values as part of their education. To be honest, while going through four years of high school those values didn't necessilarily relate very well with us as teenagers(maybe I should just speak for myself). As we get older we begin to realize the importance of the values they taught us were. One of those values was "to be men for others." As we begin to understand the importance of another saying the Jesuits used over and over, Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,it is then we start to realize through that phrase ,AMDG, that our lives have a real purpose. It is then we truly understand that life is not just about satisfying our own needs, but about serving others as it relates "to the greater glory of God."

I've written this song with those thoughts in mind to help share the Jesuits'positive and powerful message.

I dedicate this song to Father Harry Thompson,S.J.(1936-2001) whom I remember so well instilling these values to a student body of young men at Jesuit High School.
