About the song
This is about an auto manufacturing worker who has sacrificed living in Florida or Toronto for some greater reason. By the way, I'm not living in Michigan for the weather.
Lyrics
I've got my friends up in Ontario, who find their way to the frozen north to you.
I've spent some time, up in Ontario where the blue runs south to the dangerous falls.

And I've spent over half my life making automobiles for the families of America. And I feel well, I guess I'm blessed here in Michigan.

I've heard some bands that come from Ontario, that post-punk rock that drips on college radio.
I've got some medicine that came from Ontario, but I thank God that I don't pay their taxes so high.

And I've spent over half an hour wishing...of some other place. I think I might me in denial about how I love michigan.

And it's freedom when you feel that your life is a sacrifice.
And it's freedom when you see those Florida girls with their tropical suntans.
