A medium speed dance tune, but not wholly so; as with many of my tunes, there’s a meditative feeling in there somewhere and this time they are accompanied by some soft key work, floaty pads and an exciting rhythm line up…look out for the brass too!

About the song
A Bright summers day on top of hill in the middle of the English countryside, or if you prefer night time, then that’s no problem either. Away from the hustle and bustle from man’s busy world is a must, as is somewhere alone, or perhaps not, it’s up to you. Just press play and fly the day away.

Sleepin’ on the Wind

For me, its daytime and any green field which leads to a hill or high point and I just lye on my back, with my arms loosely by my sides and close my eyes after taking in the splendid blue skies above me. The sky isn’t quite empty though, for here and there are my friends the clouds; the bringers of rain at times, when there darkness brings to us life’s gift, water. As my mind remembers the few white fluffy cumulus clouds that were dotted about the beautiful blue sky, my arms begin to feel lighter, almost lighter than air and as a result they begin to slowly and gently move away from the sides of my body.

I can feel the air passing by me now, making the hairs on my arms stand on end as it passes and all round them, as well as it flowing past my face and it felt so warm and very friendly that my eyelids and the sides of my face were being caressed by it, like I was having my whole face worked on by the most tender of masseurs and she followed me as I lifted slowly up in exactly the same position as I had been laying; I was floating!

I could feel myself rising ever higher, searching to reach those clouds I had been looking at only a few moments earlier. As I got used to being on the wind, I began to move my arms, slowly at first because I was still unsure of whether I might spoil the air’s gift. Like a swimmer gliding through water, any movement of my legs which were now together behind me, or my arms that were at right angles to my body, did indeed change my path as the winds flow reacted to it, but because of the decreased density in air, each movement I made caused far more movement than that of any swimmer. As time ticked ever so slowly by I felt myself become more and more confident of my flying ability, after all, the only danger was slamming into the ground and as long as I was at this height, I was nowhere near the ground. With my arms by my sides now, I arched my body forwards ever so slightly and immediately I span head over heels as many time as I’d wish to hold my same position. If I then straightened back up, I would just soar along, or straightening up below the horizontal I would of course execute a dive and by pulling my body into a slight backward arch at the same time as pulling my arms back to right angles, I would once again gain the height I had lost; I could fly!

As long as the wind was there, or even the air that contained it, I really could fly wherever I wanted to, and for as long as I wished. I flew all day and what was at first a beautiful afternoon, turned into a magnificent day, which I have remembered ever since that first time. Here’s to the gifts of life and all that is there for us to behold and enjoy.
