About the song
... This song is dedicated to the struggling Pioneer Valley music scene and to those I see out in it. I wrote it in response to a recent statement that the Valley's arts scene is like a Death Valley. It became much more of a statement about what I'm going through trying to get my music out. Still, I think that it's what many musicians go through.. This recording was done in two days, on my eight track in the bedroom... one to record the music and write the lyrics and a second was needed to repair the vocal chords I damaged whilst writing it.
Lyrics
Praying to God like a hungry child
The prodigal son, that nobody found
Pushing aside any lingering doubt
Killing the calf, gonna bust it out from...

Death Valley on a hungerstrike
Steppin to the plate and gonna take a bite
Bite into something as big as the sky
Something that I wanted for my whole damn life
Awaken Alive from inside and I find
All that I need to get out of the sty
Burning a hole in the middle of the sky
The Son is still out in Death Valley tonight.

Boy? Are you a man?
Is that the best you can?
Loose women and your bread alone?
Welcome the son because he's coming home from...
Death Valley.
