This is your basic rock rant- slow buildup, long song. The recording is basically live, and the lyrics are just about getting pushed around by the government and greed and all the negative things about our society.

About the song
I wrote this song to just vent. When I first brought it to the band it was almost finished and....no one liked it! So I let it die. But I brought it up again about a year later and suddenly everyone dug it. Go figure. We ended up opening a lot of sets with this tune.

I gotta give my old band-mates their props for all these older tunes:

Pat Fagg
guitar and backing vocals(and vocals on "Jus' Livin'")
he's currently playin' in a heavy Christian band in Juneau, AK called Divine Appointment; info on them and some of their music can be found here:
http://www.divineappointment777.com

Scott Bloom
Bass guitar and backing vocals (and vocals on "All F*ed Up")

Jeff Burdick
drums
currently fronting a great reggae group called Little Big Man, he writes tons of original material and plays guitar/sings lead at gigs all over the Pacific NW. More info on Jeff & Little Big Man can be found here:

Chris Hao
guitar
This guy's an amazing guitarist- maybe the best I've ever met. He recently bailed for the good life of surf and sun in New Zealand and we're all sure he's takin' the place by storm!
Lyrics

music & lyrics by Lowell Pelkey

america you fell from grace
life and liberty
got trashed in the rat race
america you dug your grace
land of the weak
home of the wage slave

which of us can face
this harsh reality
america the golden child
died in infancy

america we're forced to pay
for guns and tanks and bombs
we didn't want anyway
america the land of greed
too rich to house the poor
fill the mouths to feed

which of us can face
this harsh reality
america the golden child
died in infancy

america the poisoned land
feed our kids the waste of man
and force the ones that don't believe
and shut off all the children's minds
and idolize the tv screen
and work to live to work for shit
while ignorance and apathy
prevail from sea to sea

which of us can face
this harsh reality
america the golden child
died in infancy
