This was written for a girl named Veronica, and pretty much proves that all songs based on the Bo Diddley beat sound a lot alike.

About the song
A lot of people acuse me of copying this tune from Bow Wow Wow's I Want Candy. This is not true. I copied it from Buddy Holly's Not Fade Away, and Buddy copied it from Bo Diddley.

Will Ray and Bob Metzger duel with guitars on this cut. Danny Timms provides the B3 organ in the background. Steve Duncan (Desert Rose Band) plays drums and Bob Glaub (he's played with every California rock act that ever existed) plays bass.
Lyrics
I don't know if she can love me
for through her eyes, I cannot see
If our love can ever be
I'll cherish that Veroni-kee

A million stars are swimming by
a living dream for her and I
I want her looking at the sky
Give my love to Veroni-kai

I don't know why she had to go
But she went to San Luis Obispo
There must be something I don't know
But lord, I miss Veroni-ko

Her lawyer tells me that we're through
restraining order makes me blue
Love me don't, or love me do
I'll always want Veroni-koo

Veroni-kee, Veroni-kai
Veroni-ko, Veroni-koo
Veronica, I love you
Veronica, I love you

Veroni-kee, Veroni-kai
Veroni-ko, Veroni-koo
Veronica, what’s up with you?
