Theres...
Stega-Bronto-Brachylopho-Anodontosaurus
Silly dinosaurish names to confound, scare and bore us
My mad mispronunciation comes out indecorous
Campto-Ichth'yo-Het'rodonto-Dicraeosaurus
Hmm.. Parasaurolophus, Iguanodon
Hmm.. Procompsognathus, all of 'em gone
I used to know each dinosaur when I was just a lad
I'd use 'em to impress my teachers and my mum and dad
But every day today it seems to me that list has grown:
They name a whole new species every time they find a bone, there's
Dimetrodon, Deinonychus, Dilong, Diplodocus
How do they invent these names, it seems like hocus pocus
Must have been more dino-species than there now are locusts
Rhamphorhyncus, Seismosaurus, Sordes, Sarchosuchus
Hmm.. Huaxiagnathus, hmm.. pleiosaur
Hmm.. Tropeognathus, none any more
From fossils all around the world they infer quite a lot
And have a look to see what similarities they've got
But when you think "That cannot be! How on earth can they know?"
They walked (or stomped) the Earth two million centuries ago, So
Let's make up another name to stick into the chorus
Call your one-eyed dinosaur a "Do-you-think-he-saurus"
Isn't it a load of b.. a load of "Faecotaurus"
Allo-[A]pato-Acrocantho-Argentinosaurus
Hmm.. Cretoxyrhina, dimorphodon
Hmm.. Ornithocheirus, they've also gone
You know:
Some sound like they're backwards, for example
Saurolophus, Saurophagus or Sauropus
Must have been stoned when they named them, don't you think?
Indubitably!
So when you've found a fossil bone, you too can join the game
Say it's a brand new dinosaur, and give it your own name
But better do it carefully or it could change your life...
Yes?
Can you imagine introducing this one to your wife?
It's Alexandropophagorgopollyannasaurus
Ankylbraceletplateochipsvelocipedotaurus
Archaeoptometricalwho'swetandratherporous
