A song about clutter. If I'd just listened to my mother and kept my room clean it would have made it that much easier to make out with cute girls.

I started writing this song about ten years ago when I still lived with my parents. I had set up a little recording studio in my bedroom and all the gear was set up on my bed. I had to sleep on the sofa out in the living room.

old ghosts, papers and memories
a dusty floor and dusty dreams—
I’ve never done much sweeping
or I’d sweep you off your feet
onto a bed
you didn’t have to share
with my old shoes—

but I’ll push the shoes away
and lay you on my bed
and learn to dance
with a girl for a broom
and we can be together
making a mess of things.
