About the song
Phil Goodrich had these two very different guitar riffs that he was working with, but no way to link them together. The feel that he had behind them was also very basic, and I didn't like it. One night, when I stopped by the practice spot to pick up one of my guitars, he and Mark, the bass player, were working on these two riffs. One part they were doing really caught my attention, and I worked on it in my head during my drive home. Once I got home, I broke out a little notebook, and started improvising ideas to it, and came up with a whole slew of things I liked. Only one of Phil's riffs is present so far in this song, and that's the odd-meter part where the drums come in. Apparantly, some how his original ideas were influenced by the movie Pi, and everything comes from a mathematical background.
