About the song
I came up with the lick first and then wrote the words and the chord progression. I was really pleased with the modulation in the chorus. It was recorded with the American Rider Band. Lief Frederick on bass, Johnny D on drums, Tom Griffin on mandolin, and myself on guitars and vocals.
Lyrics
Let it Burn
Where are you going
Where have you been
You look like an angel
But you smell like sin, smell like sin
My inquisition you've been with a friend
But she aint talking
It looks like this is the end
Let's just say we'll be friends
A backfire smolders
Nothing left to burn
Just walk away with what you've learned
Good bye darlin' don't be concerned
Just walk away and let it burn
I could whimper
Or I could shout
But worse things can happen
Than being the odd man out
Than being the odd man out
Don't make it hard
And don't make it rough
A peck on the cheek
Is really saying enough
Let's just say we'll stay in touch
Where are you going
Where have you been
You look like an angel
But you smell like sin, smell like sin
My inquisition you've been with a friend
But she aint talking
It looks like this is the end
Let's just say we'll be friends
A backfire smolders
Nothing left to burn
Just walk away with what you've learned
Good bye darlin' don't be concerned
Just walk away and let it burn
I could whimper
Or I could shout
But worse things can happen
Than being the odd man out
Than being the odd man out
Don't make it hard
And don't make it rough
A peck on the cheek
Is really saying enough
Let's just say we'll stay in touch
