About the song
This song was originally a children's song called 'Peter Pachyderm and the Captain's Adventures At Sea'. I thought it would be much funnier if I switched the two main characters to St. John the Baptist and Jesus Christ, though. This is not Christian Rock.
Lyrics
I've got a legendary story to tell
So I hope that you listen well
To St. John the Baptist and Jesus Christ's adventures at sea
Tired of life being hard
they want to change where they are
St. John the Baptist plans to go real far
I knew him as a boy
a dreamer making noise
a happy-go-lucky child, never annoyed
But it's amazing what can change
when you're worn down by old age
He knew one thing was true, he had to get away
So Jesus an he cross paths
and I'm sure that you can do the math
Destiny was calling and he found his chance
So I said to the stewart, what did you see?
and he said, I saw a zealot looking at me
and I said, my friend that's destiny
cuz St. John the Baptist has set to see
Willing and able to please
Jesus takes a seat
He says, I'll say it to you once and I won't repeat
Drinking from his chalice
he says it won't be an easy task
I know a boat to take but we've got miles and miles to pass
So the boat's about to leave
and their hearts drop from their sleaves
and they run as fast as they can
untill the water meets the land
and they know this chance is rare
so caution's thrown to the air
and they run run run, run skip jump
and it's the best jump that they can make
and they leave it up to fate
and St. John opens his eyes
finds to his surprise...
So St. John the Baptist and the savior set, set sail
and finding their own island is their personal grail
where they can do anything that they please
they can scrape their knees and climb some trees
So I said to the stewart, what did you see?
and he said, I saw a zealot looking at me
and I said, my friend that's destiny
cuz St. John the Baptist has set to sea
Now he's gonna be canonized!
Motherf***er's gonna be canonized!
He's in the desert
eating locusts
in a coat made of camel hair
He's that
crazy!
Jesus'!
cousin!
he's the one with that certain flair
Oh yeah, you know him!
Crazy Uncle John the Baptist!
So I hope that you listen well
To St. John the Baptist and Jesus Christ's adventures at sea
