Lyrics
Living on the Outside
© 2002 Barbara June & Patrick Michael
With a foggy pounding head, He opens up his eyes,
Not quite sure where he is, Or what he did last night.
He scrapes himself together, In a caffeine kind of way.
Tries to hide all the damage, And heads out for the day.
Chorus: He’s living on the outside, dying on the inside.
Be careful what you’re choosing, Realize what you had.
Living on the outside, dying on the inside.
She’s the one with the cardboard smile. No one ever sees her cry.
Just the stars and the mirror, When the long nights drag by.
In the brandy colored evening, So scared of being alone.
She keeps busy doing nothing, And hides on the telephone.
Chorus: She’s living on the outside, but dying on the inside.
Be careful what you’re choosing, Realize what you had.
Living on the outside, dying on the inside.
Keep on marking time with empty feet
What they needed was within reach
But the distance grows each day.
While they let it slip away.
Chorus: Now they’re living on the outside, but dying on the inside.
Be careful what you’re choosing, Realize what you’re loosing.
Living on the outside, dying on the inside.
