About the song
I wrote this song for my Dad. Figured since I wrote one for my Mom it would be a good idea to have one for Dad too since they both supported me 100% from the start.
Lyrics
Verse 1

Well my Daddy played guitar in a hillbilly travelin’ band
Yeah he toured around the country with a guitar in his hand
And he swore one day that he would have a son
Who could pick and sing his way to number one
And be the pride of the family tree just like his old man

Verse 2

So he met a little girl and they had themselves a fling
Yeah they fell in love from heaven above and he gave her a diamond ring
Well they headed on up to Tennessee and ya know the rest is history
But I can’t take all the credit for the way I sing

Chorus

Cause ya can’t slow me down Lord when I’m on a roll
And if the feelin’s right I’m gonna play all night, Lord til I lose control
But this country boy is steppin’ out with a little bit of rhythm and soul
Cause my Daddy Was a Blues Man
And Mama loved rock n roll

Verse 3

Now every chance I get I like to take a trip back home
To talk about the friends I’ve made cause they’re the reason I sing my songs
But I can’t forget what my folks taught me about livin’ right and bein’ free
And I take it with me everywhere I go

Repeat Chorus

Yeah my Daddy Was a Blues Man
And Mama loved rock n roll
