Lyrics
I've got many miles to cover yet before I get back home
and my bones are weary from the miles I've gone.
There is rest and joy awaiting when my journey's finally done
but that's far away and I must travel on.

To my left are verdant pastures where the sheep are safely fed
and to my right a valley stretches far below
And I know a table richly spread awaits my coming home
where the wine of joy will surely overflow.

I've got many miles to cover yet before I get back home
But the clouds are boiling up ahead of me.
I see lightning flashing in the distance, wind begins to blow
And the rain is warning me to stay away.

Let the mountains clap their hands at me
and storms engulf my journey home
I am safe from every wayside enemy.
On my travels I am not alone
For the Lord protects the path
So the way is safe when there is a storm.

I've got many miles to cover yet before I get back home
and my bones are weary from the miles I've gone.
There is rest and joy awaiting when my journey's finally done
And we'll celebrate when everybody's home.
