Lyrics
Inukshuk ©James Gordon 2004

City streets feel just as bleak
As the arctic tonight,
The wind blows cold and there’s just no soul
In those neon lights.
Skyscrapers loom like the icebergs up in Baffin’s Bay,
I seek some passage but I can’t keep my Bering Strait.

I guess I’m looking for an Inukshuk,
Some kind of sign,
Looking for an Inukshuk,
To point me down the line.

It’s hard to face it, goodness gracious
Great balls of snow,
No stars to guide this taxi ride,
Which way do I go?
I have traced across the tundra, tracked the caribou,
But I just can’t seem to get myself back home to you.

I guess I’m looking for an Inukshuk,
Some kind of sign,
Looking for an Inukshuk,
To point me down the line.

To cross the Beaufort Sea or the Tapanzee
Is just as hard they say.
You can freeze just as easy
On the Hudson River or Hudson Bay.
Frobisher and Franklin, when they sailed out to explore,
At least they knew what they were looking for.

I guess I’m looking for an Inukshuk,
Some kind of sign,
Looking for an Inukshuk,
To point me down the line.
