It's funky. It has sweet rhyme schemes. I wrote it almost two years ago. It's about a pursuit... from the highest highs to the lowest lows.. and more lyrics about heart problems : )

About the song
I probably started writing this song in like 2004... in the dorms.. as usual, i had a sweet guitar tune that required my undivided attention for a few months before i could put words to it... so the words and music finally came together. then the song sat around for a few more years until i recorded. just now. in colorado. I'm getting a little better at this recording business with each song so stay tuned.
Lyrics
the boy climbed fast
just to keep you in sight
yeah he was tired,
but he knew if he tried he might
still catch a glimpse
to remember you by
and ever since
when he looks to the sky
he still sees your footprints
going across all the clouds
and he still thinks you put hints
in the rain that falls down
i swear when i look at you
its the only time i know i'm alive

and he'll follow the water
wondering if maybe, maybe
one of the little raindrops had seen his baby

he dove into the ocean
he was dreaming you sank
in the midst of the commotion
his head went blank
he listened to the swells
to point him to you
that he might say farewell
but all they ever do
is rock him to sleep
he was dreaming when you called
pretending you were there with him
alone at last enthralled
i swear when i look at you
its the only time i know i'm alive

and he'll follow the water
wondering if maybe, maybe
one of the little raindrops had seen his baby

it only takes one of us walking away
we're already streatched too thin
the fun of it is more about who to blame
than watchin the roof cave in

he checked into the hospital
his fever through the roof
the doctor said the odds were small
there wasn't any proof
it seemed he thought his heart was wrong
it couldn't keep the time
the doctor said his heart was strong
the problem was his spine
while i like to think that i still have
some growing up to do
i kind of wish it'd happen fast
so i could be with you
i swear when i look at you
its the only time i know i'm alive

and he'll follow the water
wondering if maybe, maybe
one of the little raindrops had seen his baby
