About the song
This was one of Jason's favorite songs. I sang this at his memorial service. Jason was very interested in sharing his faith, and did so in a varieties of way during his lifetime. His songwriting and devotional writing were big keys in this. Along with sponsoring this album, he wrote a book with the same title (Just Passing Through). This is a collection of many of his devotionals. This book and the physical CD are available at GetChristianMusic.com.
Lyrics
This old world is not my home
Though I've been known to live that way
Holding on to treasures that will some day fade
I plan my plan and dream my dreams
And laid down deeper roots
But lost along the way this simple truth

I'm just passing through
Another traveler on the road
And I hear your gentle voice
As it beckons me home
Should I want to settle here
Like I know I'm bound to do
Keep reminding me, Lord
That I'm just passing through

Lord, this road it seems so long
I grow more tired by the day
Straining for the prize I sometimes lose my way
I need you here to light my steps
Can't make it all alone
Truth is I am really missing home
