About the song
The piece was inspired by visits to the
ruined medieval abbeys of Yorkshire and the rhythm of the monastic day with times for work and play.
I tried to give the feel of a Summer afternoon
with the sounds of the river in the
background. Steph played plainchant(a fragment of a piece by Abbess Hildegard) on the
flute for me, and I used our voices to
sing etherial Glorias above the
ambient techno soundscape.
