About the song
This song is an item I wrote the basic lyrics of in 1993, re-found, revised, and have gradually developed music for during the past year. It's not truly finished, since I think it needs some fiddle & cello - but, I feel that what I've posted here is pretty nice, nonetheless.

A drop of rain falls in the river
Like a single tear from a weeping God
- for loneliness, and broken hearts
- for greed, and all the pain it's caused.

It was just one among many,
shed for what we’ve be-come.
It was just one among many,
that have come and then gone.

An orange leaf drifts down from on high
Like a single sigh from a patient God
- for all the failures seen of spirit;
for all the faded dreams, now done.

It was just one among many,
falling lost and alone.
It was just one among many -
season of change, had begun.

I went back to that old town,
and wandered around.
I walked the streets and looked at the shops,
Buttercup, in a turbulent ocean of clowns.

Remembering what we did and how it was,
how we argued, and couldn't fix
love,...

I was just one among many,
that you abused for your fun.
You were just one among many,
using your love, like a gun.

Nobody noticed, when heaven opened.
We were so pre-occupied with our daily lives
- with all the things that were unfinished,
and all the things not yet begun.

It was just one among many,
reaching out to us all.
It was just one among many,
that has come and then gone.

A tiny pine sprouts deep in the woods
Like a single kiss from a loving God
- for all the children born in one day;
for all the futures, making more love.

It was just one among many
- reaching up for the sky.
Each one, one among many -
learning how to get by.

And, I was just one among many.
And, you were just one among many.
We are each one among many.
You were just one among many.
I was just one among many.
That has come and then gone.
