Country singers wear cowboy clothes and love it, but they aren't real cowboys in general. Probably would get hurt in a corral. Number two on the country charts!!! Thanks, big time!

About the song
I got the idea for this song in the country forum when we were talking about what country singers wear. I always like western clothing, but I know I ain't a cowboy.
Lyrics
Wannabe Cowboy by Bob Grez

I may wear my mall bought boots and comfort denim jeans
But my heart is straight and true, that’s how I see things
My Stetson hat on my head tipped like Little Joe’s.
I’ll be like that when I’m dead, when there ain’t no more to go.

Chorus
I know I’m just a wannabe cowboy.
That’s what I want to be.
Cause I can’t ever be a real cowboy
So I’ll settle to be a wannabe.

Never roped a calf or steer, I’m sure I don’t know how
Didn’t buck a bronco steed, or ride a horse into town
But I stared at some great sunsets with a true love at my side
And I understand what an old cow hand is feeling tonight.

(Chorus)

I’ll go drive my pickup truck, sleep out neath the stars
Build a campfire by the lake, go hikin’ near and far.
Tip my hat to my lady when I come to call
And I’ll ask her nice to dance with me to a sweet old country song.

(Chorus)

I’m just so happy to be a wannabe.
