The little town that I used to live in is going through some hard times now with factories closing by the dozen, people out of work, and more & more people searching for that "special place".

I saw her standing by an old street lamp, faded gray sweater and old army pants
finger shaking and words that sound so clear
all that feeling to someone that's near
in the light I see the rust that's in her hair
an unknown stranger cause there's no-one standing there
she doesn't even know that I am standing here.
I could wave and jump you know she wouldn't even care
cause in her mind there's a special place
lots of people and a lot of space
and all that go there they just can't escape
its a special place
there's so many in this little town
I get the feeling I have been left out
I'd like to shut my eyes and just skip this place
ride my starship into outer space
like the woman by the old street lamp
no one can touch her
no one can know her plan
and she will go there
close her eyes
