About the song
Many of the scenes were repeatedly drummed into our minds in the days following 9-11 but there were some that remained unseen by tv cameras and these needed to be seen too.
Lyrics
In Memorium (Nicholls/Macdona)

Early in the morning
before the day begins
I see the sunlight on your face,
reminds me of the love we made.

What a difference a day makes
in your life,
I find myself far away
so far from your side.

Everything's real when you're walking down
a crowded street,
everyone's bumping and shouting.
they're always telling me
to move out o' their way,
they always think they got
something better to say.
There's coffee on my shirt,
there's ice cream in my face
from the kid that's just passed,
and I'm losing this race.

So I'm just left here
grieving your warm embrace,
I never knew what happened to you,
all I have is this picture of your face.

Everything's real when you see a man
with nothing but the stars and the stripes to keep him warm
See the child tapping on the window of the limousine as it passes along the way,
the curious child he does not understand
why his mother turned his head away.
