Tracy Lalonde- Been There Before
"...this is a cool little pop rock diddy. It's a nice song, your voice is better than you claim, instruments are well played... ...the guitar solo was really nice"

"...This song reminds me of a cat. It struts up to ya and gets comfortable and before you know it, you're scratching its ears in a dazed stupor. Then the song ends and the cat walks away without even a thank you. The break up of the bridge was well executed and flowed nicely with the rest of the song. Nice job, a good song, enjoyable listen..."

There's something about female artists from Canada that always turns my head. The last time it happened, it was Diana Krall, aka Mrs. Elvis Costello.

I don't know who's doing your backing, but it's excellently mixed and conceived and played. The writing is impressive in someone as early in their career as you are. I can't tell how much help you get.

The drumming needs to be more fluent in places - especially on snare - the loops wore a little thin. Multiple snares in succession are the giveaway.

You have to bring your vocals forward, compress them a little more, and a touch of autotune maybe wouldn't hurt - more as a subtle effect than a necessity. I like the voice quality here - you definitely have a "come hither" quality to your voice which should convert to a big recording company contract some day. Think Vanessa Carlton.

You need to work on your breathing more - lung capacity - try hissing through your teeth nonstop until you can do it for 50 seconds without a break. Do it daily and your singing control will improve.

You're wasting your time playing to the internet crowd.

You're in the entertainment business, so think "tits and teeth" (I know it's crass but the first slimeball recording management type who gets you alone in his office will tell you this, just before he strangles your future finances with a contract).

If you need anything by way of assistance, I'll do anything I can to help you from over here. You want arrangements, big orchestrations, or someone to fix stuff in the mix, or assist with production, or add keyboards, lemme know. But chances are you have this available to you already.

Heck - I'll even pay you to sing on some of my serious tracks as a session singer.

And as for writing and recording, well, the world is your oyster.

When your CD hits the charts here, I'll buy two. Promise.

Steve
