Blazewun, formerly of The Storm Ryders (who are no longer a group), has recorded one of the most controversial West Coast tracks that I have heard in a very long time. I was literally in shock while listening to it. The track is called "Step Ya Game Up" and in his own words, this is how he explained the track:
"The song itself is designed to urge fellow West Coast emcees to quit crying about the East Coast not giving us respect when we had artists that were capable of putting the West Coast back on the map but chose to rap about cliche topics and songs that already been done and not bring nothing new to the table to make West Coast hip hop stand out. The beats are all funked out and the lyrics are basic and flat out boring. The message is if you want respect from the East you have to be able to compete lyrically with them. If you can't then dont complain when you can't get no airplay over there."

Blazewun - Step Ya Game Up
The track was written and produced by Blazewun who seems to be on a mission to bring something new to the West Coast. Now, as much as I may not agree with everything he says in this song, it's definately dope and he definately brings up some real good issues.
If you've got any comments or feedback from this track, hit my email and I'll forwad them to Blazewun. He wants to hear from the people and their thoughts on this track and the West Coast scene.
Be on the lookout for Blazewun's mixtape coming soon on M.E.C.C.A. Enterprises. I'll keep y'all informed on that.
