New Music: Akon, Swizz Beatz/Cassidy, Yung Joc
Akon still trying rebound from the flack he caught over humping an underage girl at a concert just released a new song called, “Mama Africa”. I’m actually really digging this. I love the vibe of the song and the production. I like the message of the song and I’m glad to hear him talking about something other than smacking someone’s a$$.

Swizz Beatz has a track with Cassidy of his new album “One Man Band” called ”Come And Get Me”. This song is alright…Swizz has zero versatility with his production, so it’s hard to feel his music after hearing two or three songs from him. I’m not impressed. It’s also quite amazing how Cassidy barely escaped spending a long time in jail behind a gunfight that he was involved in, yet he still manages to talk about killing people and selling drugs in his music. Not much personal growth huh?

Yung Joc has another dumb ass song called, ”Dunks”. Enjoy.

Common "The Game"
Another Common tracked leaked to the net called “The Game”; which I believe he just shot a video for. Like I said about “The People”, I’m really happy to hear him stick with the old school throwback vibe with his production, because it really suits his flow and his storytelling. This song kind of reminds me of the vibe of “Classic” with Kanye, Nas, Rakim, and KRS One…except with like 20 times more lyrics. I think Common’s album is coming along at a great time for an artist with a positive message. As the tide is slowly starting to turn against ridiculously sexist, overly sexual, and violent music, people who have something to say are going to get more and more attention. When you add the fact that Common already has a solid fanbase…I think he might have an even bigger hit on his hands than “Be”. With that said…I’m still looking for a new Common track that is easy to follow lyrically. As much as I give him credit for being a great lyricist…he needs something that’s easier to digest. I think he found a great balance on “Be” with songs like “Faithful” , “The Corner”, “Testify”, and “They Say”.
