Jay Seeley's Crazy People by Jonathan Sanders
This song is hard to describe. I mean, it's a lofi kind of song, the style of which would probably make radio executives want to pull out their hair in anguish. But for some reason I totally like it. Maybe it's that crazy deep voice of his, or maybe it's the Mountain Dew I've been drinking, but "Crazy People" has this little glow that makes me want to keep listening.
The looped guitar has a way of getting its hook into me, and the light drum machine in the background (oh how I hate drum machines, but I'm ready to forgive Jay Seeley, since I like this sound so much) just quietly lulls you into a sense of security. It's the kind of sound that you don't hear very much, which is why I can't quite put a finger on where I've heard it before.
Either way, Jay Seeley has a song here that will make you scratch your head for a few minutes. You'll first think you hate it, but then you'll hear that voice, and the music will grab your mind. Then you'll never want the song to stop.
That's quality music, folks, plain and simple. So dig in, and let those "Crazy People" into your head for good.
