"Her Features" is a very up-tempo, 1920s-swing style instrumental with a complimentary flow.
The song is about a special relationship one feels with his woman.
It is dedicated to lovers. The lyrics come from past experiences and also from conversations he had with women.
"Most of the lyrics in this song were taken from a particular conversation I had with my current lover. She was always complaining about her looks but I felt as if she was perfect in herself. I decided to dedicate the song to her, and she; in turn, loved it".
David E Beats chose to collaborate with R&B artist Nate from New York City.
"The collaboration was amazing; the chemistry we shared was remarkable! Nate is very talented and definitely hones his skills. When it comes to the song, I am sure that it will speak to anyone who is in love."

Producers Spotlight David E. Beats Interview
When did you first realize you have a passion for creating music?
Id have to say recently, when working on my debut album where I am rapping and producing. The amount of time and effort I put into each song, I had to be passionate. I realized then that this is something I can do for the rest of my life, just making many types of songs, loving and appreciating music in all forms.
What inspires or inspired you David to create your own unique sound?
Id have to say my heavy Rock and RNB background. Coupled with the fact that on a daily basis Ill listen to several different genres of music, excluding Rap. Dont listen too much of that anymore.
Mostly Nirvana, Led Zepplin Lots of Kanye, Yeah Yeah Yeah, yknow. Some Wes Montgomery, and a few indie bands here and there.
What artist/producers do you see as your primary inspirations?
Kanye mainly, and thats because of what he became. Someone who was pushed to the side ended up becoming bigger than them. It gives hope, and forces me to make great music to become great.
Although you may not have years in the business do you have a favorite musical project that you have worked on? Or is it to early to declare a favorite.
Well I have my debut! Its currently my favorite, but its also my only. Im very proud of it, I feel its on a totally different level then what is expected from an unsigned artist. Its on the level of a major artist debut, the songs and quality are just superior to just about everyone in my league.
What can we expect from David E Beats in the future?
I have a very grand vision for my life. You can expect me to be the greatest, at rapping; producing; even playing instruments. Expect the best shows, best songs, and constant growth.
Do you have any advice for anyone interested in become music producers?
Just be yourself at all times. Dont copy other producers to get on, yea that may get you placements but you wont have any work in the long run. Develop your own style, and find an artist you click with, then make that artist #1 on Billboard with your song. Then you will constantly have work.
As we know producing can take up much of your time but what do you like to do outside of working on music?
Normal nerdy things, like play Soul Calibur 2 or Final Fantasy 12. Or watch anime, or hang with my girl.
I like to shop, love buying skinny jeans and sneaks, but Im bout to move over to the dress shoes.
We all know the about Dr. Dres and Timberlands, but what makes you stand out in this industry?
Cuz Im David E Beats. There is no other David E Beats. I am a brand, a character thats larger than life and fresher than most. No one makes beats quite like me because no one has gone through my life and learned how I learn, or think how I think. What makes me is a combination of experience, passion and drive.
Since there has been an increase in this technology how do you feel about the use of the Vocoder and Auto tune when it comes to music?
I use it mainly for effect but never to actually correct pitch. I only work with trained musicians and singers, no amateurs, so theres no need to make someone sound good through autotune. Like on my song Daveys World off my debut; Im using autotune on the singer for effect, but the singer is great without it.
Do you have a favorite beat that once you hear it, it just makes you go crazy? If so, what is that beat.
Currently its the Keri Hilson Knock You Down instrumental. I think the beat leaves a lot of room for her amazing vocals and is one of those types of beats that sound a million times better with vocals.
Because you are still considered new in this industry do you play by your own set of rules or follow what has made others successful at their craft?
I play by the rules mainly because my PR makes me. But Ive come to realize that to make it you have to approach this like a job and yes, you must play by a certain set of rules. But the rule of conforming to the current sound to sell records is one I dont follow, mainly because all that does is make you flop faster. Being you and making great songs is my only rule.
If you can make music for one artist either living or dead who would they be and why?
hrmmmmm, thats a toughie. Im really open to everyone. Id love to do a beat for Soulja Boy or Jeezy. Yea, Im open to any artist, as long as theyre dope!

The up-and-coming artist is ready to release his third smash hit
Fresh off releasing his first introductory project ''David E Beats Blvd'' including Walk In" (featuring RNB) and ''Her Features (featuring Nate), the first official singles released; Hip Hop artist David E Beats is now releasing his heavily anticipated third single ''Ain't What It Seems'' featuring singer Nu'Reya.

''Ain't What It Seems'' is a David Bowie sampled banger with hard-hitting drums and true-to-life lyrics. The current state of the Hip Hop scene spawned the idea of the song.

''The Hip Hop game is not just about music anymore; it's about Politics and Money. You have to disregard everything you know about the industry.
He adds: ''My first project was heralded as an instant classic by my fans! Hip Hop is not dead, it's very much alive; it's just not what it seems. My goal is to continuously produce great music;be the best, period. I want to produce music that people can dance, cry and relate to. Music in general has a tremendous importance in my life. I am Music''

About David E Beats

David E Beats latest mix-tape project is a genre-blurring blend of Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Rock and Electro, an absolute tapestry of diverse musical influences. He succeeded to go from groundbreaking Hip Hop samples to high-electronic sound reasonably and surprisingly in a handful of tracks. This artist's creativity follows none and his talent defies many." – "I am PR Agency"
''David E Beats Blvd'' Does your name have a specific meaning?
Yes. The definition of Boulevard is a broad street, often tree-lined. I use it as a metaphor to stress the fact that I draw from multiple musical styles. I make music on such a broad scale that it can be interpreted and loved by all who happen to listen to it; and isn’t that what making music is all about?
For those who haven't heard about you yet, what would you like them to know?
That I will always be better; that each album shall be exponentially better than the last. As I learn new instruments; such as the guitar I am currently learning now, my music will grow and take on new shapes and forms. In short, don’t get used to a certain sound; I always aim for change!
You’re a producer/Rapper at twenty; at what age did you produce your first beat?
At 17, and it took me a few weeks to fully finish it. But like Aristotle said, the first step is the hardest, and once that obstacle is cleared you will wonder why it was so difficult in the first place.
You’re influenced by the likes of Swizz Beats, Fefe Dobson and the Decemberists, any plans on reaching out to them for future collabos?
Definitely, I am open to collabs with anyone actually. I’d love to do a song with Soulja Boy and Jeezy when I will have the opportunity.
Do you have a different approach to mark your name in the game?
The best approach is to remain true to your own interests and tastes. Trends change, sound evolves, and with it you must evolve as well, but always keep your general style. It may be hard at first, but I will become loved for doing what makes me happy.
What happened with Wale?
The situation with Wale was one where I had an opportunity and passed on it. My cousin saw him at a Downtown Locker Room in Wake Forest Mall, MD. Back when he was a local artist I heard he often frequented that mall. My cousin said that Wale was looking for new instrumentals and he told him I had the best beats in DC. My cousin came to my studio, and told me the story. I was 18 at the time, and saw no real future for myself. I ended up never sending Wale a single instrumental, and watched him blow up locally and nationally. I still kick myself for doing that.
Are you watching the new artist in the game that is exploding rapidly? Do you think they will have an on going success?
There are a few artists back home I think may make it. But as far as the unsigned crowd I haven’t heard too much music that will lead me to think they will blow, except for my boy Phil Ade, and Kendall Elijah. These 2 guys are extremely talented and I am currently producing a project for Kendall and contributing to Phil’s.
You produced and wrote all the music for your project, will you consider rapping over other producers beats? And if so which producer you would like to work with?
I would love to rap over other producer’s instrumentals. I often rap over my friend’s Prophecy’s instrumentals, as his laid back style often compliments my heavier, up-tempo beats. I love instrumentals with a full, orchestrative sound, similar to a lot of Rick Ross’ later works, and older Kanye works. I’d love to work with Swizz Beats, Just Blaze, and a few select rock bands.
What are you working on now?
I just finished producing a whole album for a artist, and I am currently working on a 10 track mixtape with Kendall Elijah. I also formed a band, and will work on a live instrumentation album fusing hard rock, blues, and rap. I am also working on another rap album where I produce, and write, all the songs. I am still thinking on a title. I am working on a freestyle mixtape as well. I am preparing to do a college tour circuit and a festival tour circuit but these are far into the future. I keep busy.
Let us know where we can vibe with David E Beats oh and before I rap this up are you twittering?? (lol)
I am all over the internets [lol]. He now uploads one new song per week on his myspace page and soundclick page. Being mentored by a multi-instrumentalist gives David E an edge over his competition. A master of both rapping and production, David E has since purchased a guitar and is currently taking lessons. The future is bright for David E, as he can see new opportunities just over the horizon. Ayo, I got this. I am already industry-ready! I been ready for some time! Yall just aint tryna make a lane for me, so I decided to make a lane for myself!, David says during the same interview. Already being looked at by labels, well on his way to becoming a local legend, David E is industry-ready, and no one can stop him. All-in-all, David E is by far one of the best unsigned artists to come out in recent years. His past is filled with sleepless nights listening to Jay-Z, or foggy days listening to Van Halen. A Music Education Major, plus being musically inclined, gives David E the edge he needs to make it in this dog-eat-dog business. Keep a sharp ear and a keen eye out for this man, hes destined for greatness.
Julian K.: First, Can you tell CrazyPellas eZine a little about yourself: your name and where you are from?
David E.: My real name is David Earl Long. I was born in Washington D.C, and im living currently in maryland and my family are all a bunch of muscians.
Julian K.: What type of production you do?
David E.: I do hip hop production. I grew up listen 2 Jay and Snoop. And I was always interested in the production, So I copped the Chronic and Doggystyles and base my beats off that multi-instrumental sound.
Julian K.: When did you start taking your music seriously?
David E.: Like 2 months ago.lol. Got tired of working 9-5. I been making music for about 4 years now.
Julian K.: Do you have management and if so, is having a management team an important part of the equation for you?
David E.: No management. I tried it. They just after the guap!
Julian K.: What are some accomplishments that you are most proud of in the production game?
David E.: I got 9000 plays on Myspace in like 2months. And my beat So Paranoid on Soundclick, hit number 2 on all the charts with like 30000 hits. And my beat Tangled on Myspace, has been the most requested beat for purchase. It has over 600 hits and its only been a month. And Im also learning music thoery and moat producers. Moat Producers just throw synths and samples togehther and chop some things up. Theres a method and once you learn that, you will be a freak.
Julian K.: Have you ever made any contact with big time people in the industry and do you keep in contact with them?
David E.: Yes actually, I have my mentor.
Julian K.: Whos your mentor?
David E.: He s currently playing with a DC group called Trouble Funk, who just got signed to a label on Universal and is tryna put me on as well. His name is Shaza. I really appreciate his help.
Julian K.: What production, software do you use or prefer?
David E.: I use FL Studio 7 XXL. Ive been using FL Studio for about 4 years but I could never get a hold of a MPC. Reason and Cubase are fucking complicated. FL Studio is easy 2 use and is powerful. At the same time though, Its actually better then Reason and a MPC cuz I have Triton. And on my computer I have mad VSTs.
Julian K.: Which VSTs do you have?
David E.: Hypersonic, Nexus, Absynth 4, Legacy cell, The Korg Joint and Waves Diamond for mixing.
Julian K.: What type of PC do you have?
David E.: I have a HP Pavillion Laptop and a Dell desktop and I record vocals onto the desktop. I have a M-Audio 66/66 Delta, Analog Ins and Outs, it has 4 ins 4 outs, so I have my mic and turntable hooked up and my monitors hooked up.
Julian K.: Do you prefer Hardware or Software?
David E.: I tried both sides and my nitch is software. Some ppl do better wit MPCs. Just try everything. If there wasnt a FL Studio, there wouldnt be a David E. Its different strokes 4 different folks. Its just a matter of prefrence.
Julian K.: Do you sell your beats online, face-to-face or both? And do you have a preference? Why?
David E.: I do both as long as Im getting paid. I love music but people dont want to pay.
Julian K.: Do you question yourself about posting beats up on the internet because of beatjackers?
David E.: Thats why there are tags on em. One beat some cats equalized my beat so the tags were low and the snare was higher.Lol. I was like whatever yo. I know how it feels 2 have 2 jack beats.
Julian K.: What factors do you consider when charging for a beat?
David E.: When I make a joint, I can hear who should b on it and I hear its potential. So if I charge 100 for a joint and 600 for another its cuz I know its potential.
Julian K.: Any tips you can give us mixing a beat?
David E.: Ummm, Just practice. It took me a long time to learn how to mix properly and Im still learning. Its all about what kinda sound you want. I like a full surrounding sound, so I focused on that.
Julian K.: Everyone wants their drums to bang. How do you do yours?
David E.: They the loudest things in the track, you have to mix the beat live and loud. Cuz when u make songs over them, the joints get turned down. So I always make the drums the loudest in the track. Kick is louder and the snare is second loudest.
Julian K.: Whats your inspiration?
David E.: God because without God Id be dead in the street. I aint no hoodlum or nothing. Its just, its rough out here. I left home at 17 and been living on my own for 4 and a half years. So yea, its mad rough. But now, Im in a comfortable sito. Without God, I wouldnt be here. So I thank God every time I make a beat yo!
Julian K.: With regards to inspiration, do you have any tips on maintaining a creative energy to feed off of?
David E.: Umm. If ur born to do it, then you dont need to maintain it. I was told Im born for this. Every time I quit rap, I wrote a sick verse without knowing. When I make a beat, I black out and wake up wit a banger. So its like, I cant help but make music. Thats my calling and its not tiring for me its fun. I make music daily. Right now Im learning acoustic guitar. So I can branch out. Maybe try country or something wired. I been on Indie Rock and Electronica for a while. Even before Kanye start messing with it. Lol. To be able to do what I do you gotta do research. Study old hip hop and sould. Basically all black music. Then move onto rock, world, country, electronica and trance.
Julian K.: In your opinion, what types of things should the new/young producer concentrate on most to develop his/her skills?
David E.: Music theory and stop tryna shortcut things cuz that just makes it harder for guys like me and you. People need to develop real skill and realize that not everyone can do what I do. If your stuff aint sounding tight. By your first beat then stop. My first beat is still my sickest beat. I just opened up FL Studio 5 and did it took me 3 weeks though.
Julian K.: How was that experience?
David E.: Lol. It was fun. Cuz u know when you on something hot. Plus your totally new to the whole thing but you know you supposed 2 add this and add that. But cuz you new, you dont nothing. Thats why it took me like 3 weeks.
Julian K.: What other producers (mainstream or underground) are you feeling the most right now?
David E.: Swizzy. Lol. I love that guy. Kool and Dre. LOL. Kanye. Stoupe from JMT, Ant from atmosphere. I like a lot of producers. I can go on 4 days. Lol.
Juilan K.: Do you have any upcoming projects youd like to let us know about?
David E.: No titles yet but a mixtape with Dusty Blender, my mixtape. On other people albums. Lol. I got a track called Bring The Pain thats on my mans Enemies Friend Albulm. Its a sinima beat with me on the first verse and on the hooks and Dusty on the track. He made the beat. I got a track called Gossip on my Gossip beat that will be on Engimas alubulm. Im working on a local project called 16 Bit Dreams. I got tons that im working on.
Julian K.: Any shoutouts you want to give out?
David E.: Well, Alex Hong, Slim, Dusty Blender, Prophecy, and Trouble Funk. If I forgot ya name, just hit me up when you see me. Lol.
Julian K.: Before I let you go, it was great having you and where can we get more information about you and your music?
David E.: www.soundclick.com/davidebeats & www.myspace.com/tonenswaggahent
I got a new song/beat up weekly, so dont sleep. I got all hot piff on both pages. Sometimes, I do a myspace exclusive where its only on myspace. I do the same for my soundclick. Im coming out with an album called Powderbleu Skyline. Look Out for that.
CP eZine would like to thank David for doing this interview.
David gave us his beat called Gossip which you can listen to he
