Review of P-Duble; My Album About Me
P-Duble occupies a strange place in rap. He's originally from Indianapolis, but now claims Columbus, Ohio as home (read: the Midwest), but the music this Christian Artist (yes, I said "Christian") makes has a decidedly conglomerated vibe; perhaps from his residential and thus, musical, changes from his time living in St. Louis; San Antonio; Richmond, Virginia and Boston. Combined with the emphasis on street-credible, but yet, positive and christian-focused lyricism to the boom-bappy beats from the Ohio-based Stay Beat Music camp over which he rhymes. On this EP's strong-release, My Album About Me, P-dub cements his status as one of the best up-and-coming artists, lyrically and sonically; mainstream and christian.

"No Trouble" doesn't hold true to it's non-ominous title, as P-dub flows menacingly over a Quite Stankable Productions macabre track. He raps about the pain and stress of pursuing your dreams on "I'm Thugged Up," whose stellar piano chords and swirling guitar riffs (again courtesy of Quite Stankable) combine for the type of song that should be opening-up this project. "Round-n-Round" takes a mellow turn, as P delivers street-centered and glorified rhymes that fit well with the piano and chord-driven beat.

Yet despite P-Duble's penchant for creating powerful music, his biggest act, is yet to try and crack the commercial barrier and reach the ears of those whom he is being called to reach. On the club-laden track, "In da' Club," Dub examines his lack of soundscan might: "I'm unbreakable like riding on Amtrack/This track packs more pressure than if the Hoover Dam cracked."

Review of "My Album About Me."
P-dub's all-star line-up, both on and behind the tracks, is truly an inspiration. With the likes of Columbus, Ohio music legend Ty Wills (the Master P equivalent in the Midwest music genre) and Freeze, one of the Midwest's best kept secrets, and with Wills behind the board, some may say My Album About Me is overkill. Fair enough, because many artist's may be inspired to kill themselves over it. P-Duble's standing toe-to-toe with some of the most extraordinary talent touching a microphone today. Presently unknown (but soon not to be) Noel and T-Huzzie, Wills and Freeze toss their collective talents into the pot, and what comes back is pure dope in the form of 6 intoxicating tracks. So, when you're rolling through the streets in any hood near you, mind your volume, you run the risk of being cited for for driving under the influence of a hard narcotic.

Independant (P-Duble)
P-Duble is a fresh breeze in a culture filled with MC's blowing smoke up everyone's tail with tough-talk and money bragging. not only is his oen as sharp as OJ's knife ("I'm Thugged Up" and "We da' Onez" were lyrically sick), but his pull no punches game is up there with the best of them ("No Trouble" was dope). If he wasn't a christian artist, he might sell records, but does genius really require morality to be heard?
