Rockabilly at the Nuke Plant (Review of "Stoli Strut Suka")
After accidentally setting off the emergency meltdown switch and realizing he won't be able to get out of the plant in time, Jose breaks out the portable stereo and pops this song in, a perfect soundtrack to partying during a nuclear meltdown.

See, you have the uptempo shuffle that provides megawatts of unique flavor. Not a lot of jams are coming with a rockabilly beat, certainly not in the "experimental electronic" variety. It gives the song a happy quality perfectly contrasting the rest of the songs' more bizzare musical elements.

Which leads me to talk about that synth line. It's positively deranged. It's got a great stop-start feel. It's up and down, zipping and zapping along, much like electron's spinning out of control as the power plant goes haywire. Then the whole track takes a slightly different turn when the crunchy low synths come in and that contrast also adds momentum for the listener.

For it's length and intent, it holds together very well. The rhythm sometimes sounds like it's going to spiral out of control, taking the synths with it, but that never happens. The synth melody pledges allegiance to no tonality but it's own which I really like.

Repeated listens reveal subtle interactions between the synths and the drums. They sometimes start and stop at the same time, sometimes rise and fall with the same intensity.

keep it up, Jose. The core's about to get extremely hot. Might as well keep dancing.
